Amidst simple but enthusiastic ceremony, Councillor Dorjay Motum elected unopposed and assumed charge as new Chief Executive Councillor, Leh in presence of BJP National Vice-President & Incharge J&K Affairs Avinash Rai Khanna, BJP State President & MLA Sat Sharma, BJP State General Secretary (Org.) Ashok Kaul, BJP State General Secretary & Incharge Leh-Ladakh Affairs Pawan khajuria, Minister Tsering Dorjay, District President Gonbo besides all the officials and other senior BJP leaders as the prestigious post was lying vacant after the sad and sudden demise of former CEC, Leh and tall leader from the soil Dr. Sonam Dawa.
Usually the procedure for the assumption of the office of the CEC involves the usual election process in front of all official machinery, but in the unanimous decision by the body, Dorjay Motup was able to soon assume the office as he found no opposition from others.
Avinash Rai Khanna said wished the new CEC all the very best for his future edeavours in the development of the region and also asked him to hold the service of the society in very high spirits and pure essence. He also wished him on the behalf of Central BJP leadership.
Sat Sharma while wishing good luck to the new 7th CEC, said that he has to fit himself in the boots of the late Dr. Sonam Dawa who was always there for the persons in need.
Ashok Kaul wished him good luck as asked him to work for the development of the region as the head of BJP led Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Leh.
Pawan Khajuria wished him good luck and prompted him to work on the principles of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas”.
Chering Dorjay asked him serve his duty well as he has served representative of people in his constituency for more the decade.
On the occasion, four Executive Councillors were also nominated to run the affairs.
Soon a meeting was called in which all the councilors from the region participated to discuss the further plans and strategy to run the affairs. It was decided in the meeting to take forward the message of the Late CEC who worked for the upgradation of the living standards and infrastructure in the region.
