Sh. Harinder Gupta lauds step of Centre Government on electoral bonds

BJP State General Secretary Harinder Gupta lauded the decision of Central Government move of finalizing the terms of issuance of electoral bonds during the ongoing winter session of Parliament.

Pertinent to mention that Finance Minister of India, Arun Jaitley on Tuesday announced the terms of electoral bonds for funding of political parties. The bonds will provide interest free banking instruments like promissory notes that can be encashed by an eligible political party through a designated bank account. Gupta mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi led NDA government tabled the idea of electoral bonds in Budget 2017-18 to make political funding more transparent and were viewed as the major step to a move towards the white and alternative to cash donation made to political parties. Any Indian citizen or body can procure the bond from selected branches of State Bank of India for 10 days in the months of January, April, July and October, which will be available in multiples of Rs. 1,000, Rs. 10,000, Rs. 1 lakh, Rs. 10 lakh and Rs. 1 crore, he added.

Harinder Gupta said that the motive of BJP to provide clean and good governance will be furthered by this step as this will provide insight into the political funding and this will increase the level of confidence of general masses towards the working of political system of the country.
