Sh. Vibodh meet Dr. Jitendra Singh, presses ST status for Paharis

Vibodh for justice to 5,300 PoJK refugees settled out of J&k

 

Pressing for ST Status to Pahari speaking people, Member Legislative Council and senior BJP leader Advocate Vibodh Gupta called upon Union Minister of State PMO Dr. Jitendra Singh and projected plight of Pahari community.

On the issues of Paharies and PoJK refugees, the MLC called upon upon Minister and apprised him about socio economic strata of Pahari people living near border and LoC areas of Jammu and Kashmir.

Gupta thanked the Union Minister for his various interventions in the state, in view of the Development of the regions and providing special packages for the People of the State. Gupta said that granting ST status to the Pahari Speaking People shall be boon for India in general and J&K in particular. Gupta in detailed discussion apprised the Minister, Dr. Jitendra Singh regarding socio-economic and common ethnic characteristic of Pahari speaking people. Gupta also referred to the cabinet decision in favour of Pahari Speaking People, for grant of ST status to the said community

Dr. Singh after discussion, assured MLC, that necessary steps shall be taken for the Granting ST Status to the Pahari Speaking People, the matter is under active consideration of Prime Minister. Dr. Singh also got first hand information from MLC regarding the Situation in twin Districts of Rajouri-Poonch and appreciated the role of Legislators for maintaining Peace and communal harmony in the Society. Gupta at last thanked the Union Minister for his time to time support, for the overall development of the Jammu and Kashmir .

Meanwhile Vibod Gupta who recently chaired National Meet of Pakistan Occupied Jammu Kashmir (POJK) displaced persons forum on 3rd of September, at New Delhi also took up the matter with PMO. He strongly favoured various demands of the 5300 families, of displaced persons who are settled in various parts of the country. Gupta said that considering the condition of these families and the sacrifices made by these families for the sake of nation it is very important that equal treatment must be given to these refugees. He further added that all these people very rich people while they were living in POJK and once they moved to various parts of India, the condition of these people is like any other refugee in the country. Gupta was also informed that as per 1962 census, the families of these refugees were included in the list of refugees prepared by the Government and were also given relief. Now, these people are not given any other relief due to the reason that these people are not settled in the state of Jammu & Kashmir and have moved and settled in various other parts of the country.

Gupta reiterated that BJP Government is for the overall development of all the Regions, in an impartial and transparent manner. Gupta held a detailed discussion for giving every right to the 5300 Families, who are part of Jammu and Kashmir, but settled in other parts of the Country. He very strongly called-upon the Government, to include all 5300 families of displaced persons living outside J&K in the compensation package being given to the displaced persons from POJK settled in J&K. Dr. Jitendra Singh who always remain in touch with the ground situation especially with regard to People of Jammu and Kashmir, gave him a patient hearing and assured Gupta that he shall take up this matter with concerned Quarter for the redressal of the issues of these Refugees. Gupta further informed the Hon’ble Minister, there is immediate need to implement the 183rd parliamentary committee report.
