BJP Vice President Yudhvir Sethi said that India is focusing on education sector in a big way and ensuring that girls are provided with equal opportunities of education. He said girls’ education is necessary for making the homes a happy place who in turn can brighten the future of their country by good upbringing of their children.
Yudhvir Sethi was speaking after inaugurating a Book titled ‘Education in Indian Perspective ‘ written by Seema Mohan, Principal Vimal Muni College of Education, Anita Gupta and Madhu Bashan here today. Published by AADEE publication the book contains constitutional Provisions regarding education in India.
It helps to understand the fundamentals in the discipline of education from the Philosophical and Sociological Perspectives. It also describes the basis of Teacher Education in India and the various aspects related to the Teacher Education in the changing contemporary society. Yudhvir Sethi said that education gives a woman freedom of thought. It broadens her outlook and makes her aware of her duties and responsibilities.
He hoped that the book will be an insight into education system and help readers understand constitutional provisions regarding education in India well. Education, he asserted empowers a grown up girl to become economically independent. They will be able to stand up for their rights. Girls have all the rights to get educated. Empowerment of girls and women is necessary to fight against the problem of gender-inequality.
Speaking on the occasion, Seema Mohan said that education in India is provided by the public sector as well as the private sector, with control and funding coming from three levels: central, state and local. Under various articles of the Indian Constitution, free and compulsory education is provided as a fundamental right to children between the ages of 6 and 14. This constitutional right must be exploited by all and children educated to make a strong nation.
She added that India has made progress in terms of increasing the primary education attendance rate and expanding literacy to approximately three-quarters of the population in the 7–10 age group by 2011. India’s improved education system is often cited as one of the main contributors to its economic development, she said adding that the book will help readers in a big way.
