MLC assured probe, action
Inhabitants of a number of villages falling in Thanamandi developmental block of Rajouri district today met Member Legislative Council Vibodh Gupta and alleged corruption in the implementation of MGNREGA in their area.
Several villagers from Thanamandi met MLC Vibodh Gupta in community hall of Rajouri town and raised several issues of their area.
During interaction locals alleged that mass level corrupt practices by the employees of Rural Development Department are going on in Thanamandi block due to which common masses are suffering badly.
Locals alleged that from issuance of material under MGNREGA to sanction of works, officials of Rural Development Department are demanding commission and corrupt practices in the department are going unchecked.
Locals further alleged that favouritism in the release of payment of works completed under MGNREGA is also on its peak with department issuing payment of influential people only while all the common masses are suffering and waiting to get their payments cleared even after years.
After giving a patient hearing to the allegations raised and issued put up by people, Member Legislative Council Vibodh Gupta assured them of proper probe on their allegations.
He said that present state government is leaving no stone upturned in ensuring a corruption free system and Minister for Rural Development Department is working hard to bring a revolution in the department.
” Since last one year we are seeing results of MGNREGA on ground and convergence of works with other departments is a move by which we are witnessing construction of foot bridges, culverts etc in rural belts ” MLC said.
He further assured the people that their issue will be communicated to concerned Minister on emergent level and he will recommend a probe on the payment released in Thanamandi block in last two years and utilization of funds.
” Government wants a corruption free society and whosoever will be found going against this will be booked under law without any relaxation ” MLC assured them
