Demand Rail and Air Connectivity for Twin Border Districts
Today various deputations from Rajouri and Poonch called on MLC Vibodh Gupta in his office chamber at Jammu and presented representations to him. A deputation from Rajouri appraised MLC Vibodh about various problems being faced by the people of Rajouri due to poor sewerage and drainage system in the city. They also highlighted their demand for more ambulance in Rajouri hospital specially critical care ambulance. More specialist doctors keeping in mind the work load in Rajouri Hospital were also demanded through a representation submitted to the MLC. Another deputation comprising of various local leaders of Surankote demanded immediate repair and widening of Surankote Bafliaz road. In addition to this the deputation requested MLC Vibodh to take up the matter of recruitment of local youth in various state and central services. A deputation comprising of local youth from Dani Dhar demanded black toping of left out road stretch which connects Rajouri city with BGSB University. All these deputations also raised the demand for immediate rail and air connectivity for Rajouri and Poonch districts. In their representations these deputations also urged for starting of work for the already sanctioned four lanning project for Jammu Poonch highway.
While interacting with these deputations MLC Vibodh informed that currently many historic developmental initiatives are underway in Rajouri and Poonch. He very specifically mentioned the recent sanctioning of a tunnel on Mughal road. For this he thanked Union Minister for Surface transport Nitin Gadkari for allocating Rs.1000 crore under CRF (Central Road Fund) for two vital tunnels one on Mughal road and the other on Kishtwar Anantnag road. He informed that it is the leadership of leaders like Mehbooba Mufti and Nirmal Singh that they ensured this additional grant from central Government within such a short span of time. He further added that once a all weather road through a tunnel on Mughal road is completed this will transform the economy of the twin border districts of Rajouri and Pooch. More tourism avenues in the region will further open up many employment opportunities for the unemployed youth of the area. Regarding work on railway link and airports for Rajouri and Poonch Vibodh said that soon he will launch a concerted advocacy campaign with the central leadership for this.
