Emphasizing that a society can develop only if it offers equal opportunity of work and education to its women, BJP Mahila Morcha District Jammu President, Rekha Mahajan, today said that the Narendra Modi led government has taken several steps in this direction. She stated this after celebrating victory of PV Sandhu Sakshi Malik, and good performance of Dipa Karmakar in Rio Olympics 2016 adding that today every Indian woman is feeling pride and we salute both these females for their splendid performance.
“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the NDA government is committed to empower women and provide them equal opportunities of education and employment,” she added.”Actually, it is only through women’s empowerment that an empowered India can be built. Any society can only progress if it respects its women and offers equal opportunity of education and employment.
The NDA government has taken several steps through which the safety and education of women are ensured right from their birth,” Rekha said in her address.
“To ensure focussed capacity building of the women, the Government is setting of women specific entrepreneurship centres both at Jammu and Srinagar,” she said and added that some other measures include establishment of women police stations, women special buses, reservation of 10% land for women entrepreneurs in industrial estates of the State, 50% subsidy for girl students for purchase of scooters and marriage assistance scheme. Mrs Mahajan said these may look small initiatives for some people but being a lady herself she knows the essence of these measures well. “Govt will continue its efforts to ensure that the women get their due in the society,” she said.
“In the Union Budget, several social security schemes like Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, Atal Pension Yojana have been announced, which will provide comprehensive benefits to women,” Rekha Mahajan said. It was a matter of pride that in the Republic Day parade this year, the contingents of three wings of the Defence forces were led by women officers. Govt has already taken several path-breaking initiatives for the welfare and empowerment of the women “We want a society where women live a life of dignity. She cannot become the victim of societal prejudice and dogmas often evoked in the name of social forbiddances,” she maintained.
On this occasion, State working committee member Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and State General Secretary Mahila Morcha Anju Dogra said that the most important among steps taken by the government is the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ campaign to address the issue of skewed sex ratio in the country. She added that the Modi government has also started ‘Sukanya Smriddhi Yojana’ for education and marriage of girls under which children can open Bank accounts where they will be provided an interest of 9.1 percent besides tax-benefits. She also mentioned about the Pradhan Mantri Vidya Lakshmi Yojana, which facilitates higher education for girls in foreign countries.
