BJP Mandal Bhaderwah organized a meeting at Village Monda (Sartingal)
on Punya Tithi of veteran BJP leader late Swami Raj Katal who was
assassinated by militants on May 30, 1994 when he was on his way to
the town to attend his official work. The meeting which was presided
by veteran party leader Bhumi Prakash Chohan was attended by a large
number of party activists and social workers of the Mandal and his
family.While briefing the gathering about the concept of organizing suchfunctions the Mandal president Ramneek Singh Manhas said that sincepeople had forgotten about the sacrifices rendered for the unity ofthe country it had become necessary to organize such functions wherethe martyrs could be remembered, their sacrifices galvanized and theirsuccessors introduced. “This will also educate the new generationabout the struggle that their ancestors had done to make Jammu andKashmir part of India which otherwise would have been part of Pakistanby now”, added the Mandal President. He also asked the new generation to draw inspiration from the sacrifices of their forefathers to do everything possible in the service of their mother land. While thanking the Mandal President for taking initiative of organizing ‘Punya Tithi’ of his father, Naresh Katal said that as long as his father was alive he was part of his family, but once he was martyred he became property of the nation for which he had laid down his life. “I am happy that this fact is being realized now”, he said. Prominent among others who spoke on the occasion include Manmohan Nath Razdan, Balkrishan Kotwal, Raj Singh Charak, Raj Singh Kotwal, Lekh Raj Katal, Mahtama Ram Katal and Others.
