While speaking in the ZERO hour of the Legislative Assembly on Thursday M.L.Afrom R.S Pura constituency Dr.Gagan Bhagat strongly raised the issue of prevailing conditions and facilities provided to them by the government at the Nari Niketan and Bal Ashram , both of them which are situated in the R.S Pura constituency. He demanded assurance from the government and said that it should immediately take important and urgent steps to renovate the said shelter homes and rectify the anomalies and problems which the inmates are passing through.He further said that the said Nari Niketan and Bal Ashram are the only Shelter homes for the Females and Children in the Jammu Province, and that too are neglected, in times when are talking about the equal rights and position for women in the society and the system, banning the child labour Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan then these type of places where the most deserving cases from the society are residing it become a collective responsibility of the society, representative and the government to provide the basic and needed facilities to these deserving inmates.The previous government had done nothing for the betterment of these shelter homes for consecutively twelve years, and it is a fact the previous representative and the then Minister in the Congress led coalition government was herself a female , and that time too the condition of these shelter homes remained unchanged. Dr. Gagan Bhagat demanded from the government that a House Committee be set up to look into this important matter,he also informed the house that few days ago the supply of ration to the said shelter home was not proper and he purchased one quintal of “Atta” from the open market and gave to the inmates, which also figured in all the leading newspapers and the authorities did only thing they replaced the superintendent of Nari Niketan and no action was taken on the said official , he demanded action on these officials who are involved in the mismanagement of the Shelter homes.Dr. Gagan also raise issue of Macadamization of roads in R.S Pura Constituency under the City and town roads project and demanded that the link road from BSNL Exchjange to KKK Road, Railway Line Kotli Shah Doula to Gagian, and Main Road Malikpur to Simbal Tekri via Sujjadpur ,on which the Minister for Public Works, and Horticluture A.R Veeri assured the legislator that he has directed the Chief Engineer PWD Jammu to do the needful at the earliest.Later on Dr.Gagan Bhagat also met Minister for Social Welfare Sajad lone and apprised the whole issue who assured the legislator that he will take stern action on those employees who are responsible for it, and will soon visit Nari Niketan and Balashram along with the Legislator and will listen to the grievances of the inmates.
