Welcoming the remarks made by Prime Minister Modi in his address to the All Parties Meet held at New Delhi asserting that Pakistan Occupied Kashmir is a part of Jammu & Kashmir and dialogue must be initiated with expatriates all over the world from that region, Brig Anil Gupta, state spokesperson of Bharatiya Janata Party has appealed to the Central government that India should come to the rescue of the people of POJK who are demanding freedom from Pakistan. Ever since the announcement of the results of recently held rigged elections skies in POJK are reverberating with slogans of ‘Azadi’ with wide spread protests in all major towns like Muzaffarabad, Mirpur, Chinari and Kotli. The protests are spontaneous and expression of disgust and anger over the atrocities committed on them by the Federal government and the Pakistan Army. In fact, the people of Gilgit-Baltistan, also part of Jammu & Kashmir, have also revolted against their exploitation and repression by Pakistan. They have also expressed their anger against massive presence of the Chinese in their region. Since, POJK (including Gilgit-Baltistan) is part of J&K, India is well within its right to provide moral, political and financial support to the people of POJK in their just struggle for freedom from Pakistan, which has been in illegal occupation of these areas since 1948, said Brig Gupta.
The spokesperson also welcomed the statement of Prime Minister that Pakistan needs to be exposed globally by highlighting the atrocities being committed by it in POJK and Baluchistan. Prime Minister castigated Pakistan for using air power against its own citizens in North Waziristan. Brig Gupta further said that by stating that the talks will be held with all stakeholders, Mr. Modi has allayed all fears of the people of Jammu and Ladakh and reassured them that no solution will be reached by ignoring them or their interests. The assurance of the Prime Minister to integrate the youth of the state with the ongoing development is also welcome.
