Rekha urges parents, teachers to induce patriotism among children

Under “Azadi 70 – Jara Yaad Karo Qurbani” Party’s mega programme to remember and pay rich tributes to all those who sacrificed their everything to make India free on this year Independence Day, the Bharatiya Janata Party Mahila Morcha District Jammu President, Mrs Rekha Mahajan today organized a programme at Bawe Bali Gali in an Anganwadi centre.Savita anand District General Secretary conducted the proceedings of the programme Speaking on the occasion, Rekha Mahajan said that children of today have become highly influenced by western culture. As a result, it makes them alien from their own national identity when the present generation should have the sense of patriotism and religious pride. Therefore, parents must try to develop the sense of patriotism in their kids. Through unity and homogeneity of the people of the country, integrity of the nation is made sure, she added.Today’s children being the future of the nation, it is essential to develop the extreme sense of patriotism amongst children from their early days of life. Otherwise, they fail to develop the sense of making sacrifice for the welfare of their society and country when they grow up. In fact the sense of nationalism can also be created in the kids from the study of history. Children should be made realized that history should be learnt not only to score good marks but also to develop the sense of nationalism. The parents and teachers themselves should develop the same outlook only then they can change the way of thinking of their kids, she maintained. Being patriotic towards the nation is everyone’s responsibility. Youth forms a major part of the nation and being patriotic towards it is their major responsibility. While the youth today enjoy their freedom in heritage, they must know the amount of sacrifices the freedom fighters did without any second thought, the activities that happened during the struggle for freedom and the amount of bloodshed that took place, so that we, as a country, can enjoy this peaceful life. So to induce the feeling of patriotism, to make them know the value, it’s something that has to take place from the roots of their childhood. For, a seed will grow to be a huge tree only if it’s watered properly from the beginning, Mrs Mahajan remarked.
