Minister for Health and Medical Education, Bali Bhagat today paid surprise visit to Rajeev Gandhi Hospital Gangyal and Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar. The Minister, during his visit to Government Hospital Gandhinagar, inspected various units like emergency ward, surgery, ortho, X-ray, drug store and enquired about the facilities being provided to the patients. He asked the authorities to ensure proper maintenance of all crucial equipments in these vital units for larger interest of the ailing. He also impressed upon them to ensure a complete hygienic environment in the hospital which is pre-requisite for health of the patients. In this regard, he also appealed the attendants to cooperate with the hospital administration as their role matters a lot. The Minister also interacted with the patients and their attendants and enquired about the status of services being extended to them in the hospital. Bali stressed upon the need of ensuring complete transparency and accountability at all levels to upgrade the existing services in the hospital. He directed the medicos and paramedicos to make patient care as their prime concern for upholding the sanctity of this noble profession. At Rajeev Gandhi Hospital Gangyal, the Minister visited the drugs store and found that all the 68 medicines, which have been brought under the ambit of recently launched coding system, are available in the hospital. He informed that under this new coding system a specific color strip has been embossed on all the medicines available in the hospital to combat any possibility of black-marketing of these medicines. He said that the Gandhi Nagar Hospital is being equipped with all advanced diagnostic and treatment facilities to cater to the increasing rush of patients and reduce pressure on GMC and other associated hospitals. Meanwhile, Bali Bhagat reaffirmed Government’s commitment towards promoting interests of weaker sections of all three regions of the State, adding that it has accorded priority to welfare plans meant for socially and economically backward segments of the society. This was stated by the Minister at an awareness camp organised by Social Welfare Department under Social Control Assistance to Scheduled Caste sub-plan (SCA to SCP) and Social Central Assistance to Tribal sub-plan (SCA to TSP) at Rajpura Domana today. Speaking on the occasion, Bali said over 140 girls and boys will be trained in trades like cutting and tailoring, beautician, electrician, plumbing and driving etc under various social welfare schemes in Rajpura Domana constituency. Referring to several measures being initiated for welfare of the under privileged segments of the society, Bali said that the Government is keen to spread literacy among such people as only education can transform their socio-economic status. He underscored the importance of various welfare programmes in bringing about a healthy change in the living condition of poor and needy.
