The State unit of BJP has taken A strong note of the incidents of attack on its MLAs and repeated attempts of harassment to party activists in different areas of Udhampur district by henchmen of a regional party, who has been obliterated while losing all of its seats to BJP in the last assembly elections.
BJP State General Secretary Pawan Khajuria, while demanding a judicial probe into all the incidents of attacks on MLAs and party activists in Ramnagar and Chenani in particular, said that the role of the police in this regard has been altogether very irresponsible and biased. He said that the kind of politics being pursued by the frustrated and out of power party is provoking some people to target the BJP MLAs and its activists but the police has adopted a complete silence despite the fact that the matters have been brought into the notice from time to time. Mr Khajuria has sought a fact finding probe – Why Mr. Din Nath Bhagat was not provide adequate security cover yesterday when he had to visit accident-hit area of Barmeen? What punitive action should be against the district-level head of Police for such dereliction of duty?
Pawan Khajuria further said that even the party MLA from Chenani Dina Nath Bhagat has not been provided adequate security despite his repeated requests of threat to his life. He said that the police should not become puppet in the hands of some leaders of a regional party but work in an impartial manner. He said that the party is going to raise the issue with the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister.
A few days before, a false an frivolous case had been registered against employee-sons of BJP Mandal pardhan from Basantgarh despite the fact they were not even present on the spot of occurrence and a Police contingent was also on spot which also testified that the sons of BJP leader were not there.
Mr Khajuria also was vocal against district Police of Udhampur for not proceeding against the activists of the regional party who, some six months ago, had stopped and assaulted the vehicle of MLA Ramnagar and even tried to set it on fire. It seems that officers at thye top posted before elections have loyalties towards the bosses who had put them over there.
