The J&K coalition govt. decision to allow girl child free education up to higher secondary in govt. schools has augured well for the need to educate woman and help them contribute significantly towards healthy national development. It surely is a Significant Step towards ‘Beti Padhao’.
Hailing the decision taken by BJP-PDP coalition government in J&K state to exempt girl students of govt schools from paying education fee up to higher secondary level, S.S. Bijral, a Former Professor, IGP (Rtd.) and a State Convener ‘Beti Bahao Beti Padhao’ said this step shall prove a boon towards boosting national project ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ in the state, launched by PM Narendra Modi country wide.
Girls are no less blessed by Nature in capabilities compared to boys. Their’s remained suppressed and untapped through willful neglect with preference for boys. This resulted in their poor growth mentally, in physique and in over all personality. Uneducated, the women as a gender got labeled with all negative, uncivil traits as a whole, for generations. This is what happened over the centuries. Bijral said PM Narendra Modi having launched national project of ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ soon after taking over country’s reign, let the nation ponder over injustice done to girl child-future mother, the dearest to every soul, that held back nation from path of comprehensive development.
This low attitude towards girl child critically disturbed Child Sex Ratio (CSR) of girls compared to 1000 boys in the country. J&K state is no exception. Here 8 districts have steeply falling CSR and are categorized critical in the country. They with their CSR as per 2011 census are: Jammu (795), Samba (779), Kathua (831), Pulwama (829), Budgam (832), Anantnag (841), Baramulla (863), Ganderbal (863). Bijral said this major step of BJP/PDP coalition govt. will facilitate increased enrolment of girls in schools, awaken them particularly ruralites, about their rights, role in national development. Educating girl child free in govt schools will render them –the future mothers- to be awakened, competent as first teacher and role model, that they are, where ever they happen to perform blessedly. The state government deserves kudos for this decision taken.
