Former Cabinet Minister and Member Legislative Council, M K Ajatshatru Singh presented a portrait of Maharaja Ranbir Singh to Dr. Gagan Bhagat, MLA R S Pura here today.
BJP MLA from R S Pura Dr. Gagan Bhagat today called upon M K Ajatshatru Singh, MLC at Hari Niwas Palace where he was presented with the portrait of Maharaja Ranbir Singh after whose name the border town of Ranbir Singh Pura or R S Pura was established. The portrait is to be prominently displayed in MLA’s office as a mark of respect for the great ruler who is still remembered for his great contributions in various fields.
Ajatshatru Singh while speaking about Maharaja Ranbir Singh highlighted various developmental projects that are associated with Maharaja’s tenure in the state. Ranbir canal, Ranbireshwar temple and many other structures made during his rule are still there and speak of the quality and commitment of his times, he said. He said that Maharaja Ranbir Singh not only established educational institutions across the length and breadth of the state he also was the brain behind Ranbir Penal Code which is still the guiding force behind the justice delivery system in the state. He also recalled Maharaja’s support for the down-trodden and neglected sections of the society and stressed that it is high time that the education system of the state helps in highlighting the great achievements of the Dogra rule in the state.
Dr. Gagan Bhagat while thanking Ajatshatru Singh assured him that he would install statues of the great Maharaja in R S Pura areas so that the younger generation comes to know about the great Maharaja Ranbir Singh and his contributions in making this state.
