Putting speculations aside of entering into the pre-poll alliance with ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), today asked its workers to gear up for scheduled by- elections for two Lok Sabha seats of Anantnag and Srinagar.
Ashok Kaul, BJP State General Secretary (Org) has made it clear to the workers that the party will field its candidates to fight Lok Sabha elections in Srinagar and Anantnag Lok Sabha seats.
“BJP will contest by- elections in Srinagar, Anantnag Lok Sabha seats and party will announce candidates very soon,” Kaul said, adding, there will be no pre poll alliance with PDP in these two seats.
Kaul said, the party has decided to contest the elections independently by fielding its party candidates. “Keeping in view the upcoming by- election in these two important Lok Sabha seats, a high level meeting was held and party leaders have geared up for discussing probable candidates to contest the by- elections on party ticket,” he said, while addressing a workers convention at Dooru, Anantnag.
“Very soon a high level committee will announce the candidates in these two seats,” he said, adding there is no proposal to go for seat adjustment with the coalition party- PDP in the state.
He also said that:”We have a huge party cadre in Central Kashmir and in South Kashmir as well, so we have decided to contest these elections independently as party, rather than entering into pre-poll alliance with PDP.”
Earlier, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced that the Srinagar segment will go to polls on April 9 and Anantnag segment on April 12.
He asked party workers to have faith on party leadership in the state for the better functioning of the party.
“BJP’s policies and working atmosphere, and public dealings have been widely accepted by the general public, which was why they voted BJP to power,” Kaul said.
During the convention, dozens of people joined the party.
The convention was organized by Ghulam Hassan Bhat, Constituency President Ganderbal, headed by Rafiq Wani BJP District President, Anantnag.
Present on the occasion was Mohammad Sidiq Khan, State President Minority Morcha; Arif Raja Protocol In Charge; Gul Mohammad Mir, District Vice- President; Maqbool Ganie, District General Secretary; Muzaffar Kuttoo, State Office Incharge Minority Morcha; Pinka Malik, District Media Secretary; Nazir Raina, Incharge Shopian District and other senior workers.
