BFDC to resume agitation for shrine board, volunteers dis-engaged from managing yatra

During Navratri Bahu Fort Development Committee (BFDC) will resume the its agitation in support of constitution of shrine board for Bawe Wali Mata temple shrine. This time organization also decided to dis-engage its volunteers for doing basic jobs of managing yatra.
Addressing a press conference, Rajeev Charak president BFDC said, “Since 1997 the volunteers of BFDC demanded shrine board for Bawe Wali Mata temple situated at Bahu Fort Jammu”.
“Bahu Fort is perhaps the oldest edifice in the city, constructed originally by Raja Bahu Lochan over 3,000 years ago, the existing fort was improved and rebuilt by Dogra rulers but due to negligence and ignorance of the successive government, the management of temple makes it a commercial hub,” he said.
He further said, “Government should issue a White Paper and give reasons why they are hesitating to constitute Shrine Board for temple”.
“There is no reason behind delaying the constitution of shrine board, if there are some reasons of legal hitch, government must tell people,” Charak said.
He said BDFC will hold 72 hour dharna at Maharaj Hari Singh chowk from April 4 in support of their long pending demands. He also said that a siginature campaing will be launched a Bahu Fort against government for delaying the constitution of shrine baord.
He further said that for the first time in last 20 years, BFDC will not engage its volunteers to manage yatra.
We are helping administration to manage the yatra during Navratra’s but in recent past temple management fray-in some organizations with gunda elements with our volunteers to defame the organization.
“Many incidents of misbehaving with pilgrims, confrontation between police- and volunteers came in light in recent past, though the volunteers of BFDC is not part of that fights but we are managing yatra, so people suspect us,” he said.
Instead of doing menial job of managing yatra, the volunteers will oversee the whole yatra and ensure that all facilities will be provided to the pilgrims.
