Bharatiya Janata Party District unit Srinagar, launched cleanliness drive in and around Dal Lake on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, on Monday.
The workers while paddling the Shikaras collected the wastage floating on the surface of Dal water. The workers also extracted the weeds from the water. “Our Water bodies are facing challenges- including encroachments but that does not mean we run away from them,” the BJP workers said, adding, they would face them and work to overcome them.
The workers seem enthusiastic while cleaning the area. “The event Swachta Hi Seva Hai’ is a dream of a clean India, which will be realized by all, not a select group of people,” they said.
The workers said that it was the collective responsibility of society to preserve these water bodies. “Not only BJP workers, every individual should come forward to join Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s this noble initiative to clean our surroundings,” the workers said.
The workers also said that people should join such events to encourage the organizer and those involved in this noble cause.
