BJP Leh launched cleanliness drive at Leh Palace in Ladakh.

On the occasion of completion of 3 years of Swacch Bharat Abhiyan inaugurated by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Sh. Narendra Modi in the year 2015, BJP Leh organized a cleaning campaign in the old Leh Town. The cleaning Abhiyan was organized under the Leadership of Sh. Tsewang Gonbo, district President BJP Leh. Hon’ble chief Executive Councilor, Dr. Sonam Dawa Lonpo, Sh. Rajendar Singh chib (President State Kissan Morcha), Captain Kasturi Lal, (State General Secretary Kissan Morcha), Executive members and senior leaders of BJP Leh, Hon’ble Councilors, Mandal Presidents and prominent leaders of BJP Leh. The Cleaning campaign was also participated by the inhabitants of Skya-ngos Goksum, Stalam and Stago-philok including sweepers of NAC Leh.

The participants cleaned all the narrow streets below Leh palace of old town. The cleaning drive started at the main gate of Leh palace and concluded at Balkhang; the end of the main market. All including Dr.Sonam Dawa Lonpo, Tsewang Gonbo, Rajendar Singh Chib, Capt. Kasturi Lal, Dorje Angchok ,Nawang Samstan, Nazir Ahmad, Sonam Dolma, Gyal wangyal and Sayeeda Bano Spoke during the concluding event at Balkhang Chowk.

Speaker mentioned about the ongoing black topping activities being executed by LAHDC, Leh all over the district. The Leh-town Beautification proposal was conceived during the 3rd LAHDC, Leh under the Chairmanship of Sh. Cheering Dorjey and all the implementation actions were taken-up on War footing by the 5th LAHDC, Leh under the chairmanship of Dr. Sonam Dawa Lonpo, CEC and handed over to public. Speakers appealed the gathering to initiate garbage sorting at home to help waste manage. “Leh town was awarded the cleanest city certificate under Swatch Bharat Abhiyan and the credit goes not only to LAHDC but the responsible citizens of Leh district” Dr. Sonam Dawa said in his concluding speech. District president, Sh. Tsewang Gonbo proposed to NAC Leh through LAHDC, Leh that Leh old town need better waste management system to keep the historic town clean and attractive to tourists while visiting Leh Palace.
