The State unit of BJP felicitated all the members of the Management Committee of the recently concluded Pt. Premnath Dogra Memorial Football Gold Cup Tournament, for extending their cooperation in successful conduct of the 11 day mega event.
In a function held at Trikuta Nagar office, BJP State President & MLA Sat Sharma, State General Secretary (organization) Ashok Koul, State Sports Club Chairman & MLA Rajesh Gupta, MLA Sunderbani Ravinder Raina, Jammu West District President Ayodhya Gupta and Jammu district President Baldev Singh Billawaria, presented momenmtos to each member of the committee. The function was attended by a large number of party activists from Jammu and adjoining areas.
Sat Sharma, while congratulating State Sports Club for organizing such a big tournament successfully, said that it has happened for the first time that a sport event has been started in the name of a leader from Jammu. He said that this highest cash award tournament will be an annual event now and it was among one of the party’s six main festivals to be organized every year. He said that Pt. Premnath Dogra himself was a very good player of football, hence the BJP has dedicated the Good Cup tournament to Pt. Premnath Dogra.
Ashok Koul, while speaking on the occasion, said that every activist of BJP as well as every citizen of the State has very high regards for Pt. Premnath Dogra and always appreciate his contribution towards the State, Jammu province in particular, who never compromised on principles and set a path for the people of Jammu to get united to get what they deserve. He said that while Pandit ji was a able administrator during his government service, he proved to be a most popular leader also, who was respected even by his opponents.
Rajesh Gupta, under whose Chairmanship this tournament was organized, shared his experience of managing such a big event and said that besides well coordinated and planned management of the management committee, the contribution of party activists too had been splendid as a result of which got encouragement. He said that after being elected as MLA from Jammu East Constituency, the first work he took into hands was to rennovate the Dogra Chowk Rotary, which is today Jammu’s best Rotary in every term. He said that none of the stadium in Jammu has been named in memory of a Dogra leader and it will be his sincere endeavor to get mini stadium named as Pt. Premnath Dogra Stadium.
State Sports Club General Secretary, who is also the grandson of Late Pt. Pandit Premnath Dogra, presented vote of thanks.
BJP Senior leader Shiv Kumar Gupta also shared his association with Panditji and experiences of working with him.
