BJP paid tributes to Major Som Nath

 On the 69th martyr day of Major Som Nath Sharma, BJP organised a programme at Balidaan Stambh at Jammu, where party leaders remembered and paid rich tributes to this great soldier.

Led by BJP State President & MLA Sat Sharma and Lok Sabha MP Jugal Kishore Sharma, the party activists assembled at Balidaan Stambh to lay wreaths and also pay tibutes.

Sat Sharma, on this occasion, said that remembering great martyr like Som Nath Sharma is itself a matter of pride for us. He said that after the martyrdom of Major Sharma, almost his entire family has joined army which has set an example that the sacrifice of one member from family cannot demoralise but it further boosts the morale of others to jump for the cause of the nation.

He said that the real tribute to Major Som Nath will be to take pledge to keep ourself always prepared to face any challenge which poses threat to the unity and integrity of the motherland.

Jugal Kishore Sharma said that the contribution of the men of Indian army for the cause of the nation has been splendid and martyr like Major Sharma has left a message that nothing is above motherland. He said that the present situation in the state demands that the people should take inspiration from the supreme sacrifices of the brave soldiers and stand by army and para-military forces to give a befitting replay to Pakistan for its acts of cease fire violation and firing on borders.

Ashok Koul, while paying his tributes, said that from October 24 to November 3, the party organised different programmes in memory of great patriots whose played important and decisive role in strengthening the nationalist forces and sacrificed their lives to ensure that J&K becomes an integral part of the Union of India. He also applauded the role of Maharaja Hari Singh for his firm resolve to not compromise on the issue of accession.

Rajesh Gupta said that the need of the hour is to re-write the history of J&K as many important events and turning points have been ignored in dark with a solve objective of keeping the people in dark.

S. Charanjit Singh Khalsa said that remembering the people who sacrifice for the motherland work to boost the morale of security forces.

Brig. Anil Gupta, in his tributes, spoke in length on the life of Major Somnath Sharma and the events which culminated into the sacrifice of this brave jawan who was decorated with first “Parma Veer Chakra”.

The programme was organised by Jammu District President Baldev Singh Billawaria and vote of thanks was presented by District General Secretary Sunil Sharma.
