City Parks are ‘Green Lungs’, need massive plantation: Sh. Yudhvir Sethi

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Vice President Yudhvir Sethi  said that all parks located in Jammu’s Old City are serving as ‘Green Lungs’ that require massive plantation. Over a period of time massive constructional activities have turned Jammu into concrete jungle and so save this old heritage city trees are required to be planted in parks, road sides, hill slopes and even in schools and colleges where space is available.

Yudhvr Sethi was speaking after planting 20 saplings in the park located in Mohalla Kaleeth. He was accompanied by Rashtryawadi Shiv Sena chief Ashwani Mahajan, New Hari Market Association President, Gyan Sharma, Hari Market Association Rajesh Raina, Lakhdata Bazar Trader Welfare General Secretary Bhushan Grover and Seceretary Amit Lutra besides all members of these social and political organisations who thanks Yudhvir Sethi for initiating this plantation drive.

He said that this plantation drive is part of centenary celebration of birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhaya and is aimed at maintaining ecology of Jammu city. He said that it is unfortunate that water bodies in old city or ponds that used to maintain ground water table and also serve as feeding source for cattle besides maintaining city temperature have vanished but efforts will be put in to save all green areas by going in for massive plantation drives.

Taking a leaf from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swatcch Bharat, this plantation drive also encourages us to keep our city clean and green. Yudhvir Sethi assured the local population that every effort is being put in to address aspirations of common masses for which all out efforts are being made to ensure that issues concerning people are resolved on priority basis by the administration. He said be it construction of lanes, drains, parks, replacement of electric poles or cables or other issues confronting commoners are also being taken care of in this regime.

‘Nave Bharat Ka Manthan – Sankalp Se Siddhi’ is one such programme wherein awareness is being spread among the common rural masses about building a New India. He urged party workers to ensure that schemes launched by state as well as central government reach deserving without any pilferage. Schemes like Fasal Bima Yojana, Swachh Bharat Mission, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bema Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Beema Yojana, Atal Pension Yojana, Mudra Yojana, Startup India etc are all aimed at making people self reliant and they must come forward to reap benefits of these schemes, Yudhvir Sethi added.

The BJP Vice President said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi intends to see Jammu and Kashmir prospering and contributing in development besides adding to the economy for which people have to be involved in taking decisions.
