Addressing the massive Adhikaar rallies of Displaced Persons from PoJK at Khour, Sunderbani and Hiranagar, BJP State President & MLA Sat Sharma, Lok Sabha MP Jugal Kishore Sharma, Rajya Sabha MP Shamsher Singh Manhas and PHE Minister Sham Choudhary, lambasted the Congress in particular for its step motherly treatment meted to the Displaced Persons (DPs) of PoJK and refugees from West Pakistan. They held Congress responsible for whatever DPs and refugees have faced after Independence.
These rallies were organized to clear the mis-information campaign of Congress and NC related to rupees 2000 crores financial assistance for DPs from PoJK.
Sat Sharma, while addressing a large gathering of DPs at Khour, said that the Congress only betrayed these displaced persons from PoJK and now when PM Narendra Modi has taken their plight as human problem and came forward to grant them financial assistance, the Congress leaders, instead of appreciating the decision of BJP-led NDA government, are once again trying to mislead the hapless DPs, which is itself an example of their irresponsible approach towards them. It is most unfortunate that whatever is being done for the DPs and refugees by the Modi government is being criticized by Congress leaders, which is reflection of their frustration.
Jugal Kishore Sharma, while addressing a similar rally at Sunderbani, said that the DPs from PoJK agitated continuously for decades when Congress was ruling the country and they got nothing except lip service. Now the BJP has initiated the process of helping them but the Congress cannot digest it. Even the refugees from West Pakistan were not considered for any favour by Congress and it is only BJP government which has granted certain concessions to them for their livelihood.
“The Congress leaders, who question PM Modi on Acche Din, should go to the DPs and see the smile on their face which is the result of the PM’s financial assistance for them”, he added.
Shamsher Singh Manhas, while addressing the DPs at Kattal drawn from 46 colonies of Hiranagar, said that BJP has always stood with the PoJK people as well as West Pak Refugees and never played politics like Congress did during all these years of Independence. He said that the leaders who are asking PM to apology for demonetization, should, infact, themselves seek apology from the nation for pushing the country towards scams and corruption during UPA-I and UPA-II and also for their earlier tenures of government.
Sham Choudhary, while addressing the DPs at Khour, said that they have suffered a lot during the Congress rule and the BJP governments at the Centre and in the state have displayed honest and non-political approach towards them. The BJP has always been in forefront to seek justice for DPs and refugees from West Pakistan. The three generations of DPs and West Pak Refugees have perished while fighting for their rights, which itself speaks of the total negative approach of the successive governments of Congress towards them. Vice-Chairman OBC Board Rashpal Verma, BJP MLAs Dr. Krishan Lal Bhagat, Rajiv Sharma, Ravinder Raina, Rajiv Jasrotia and Kuldeep Kumar said that the Congress is mother of all ills in the Country and PM Modi has taken a pledge to get India free of these evils. They further said that the BJP is committed for the resolution of all the problems and issues of DPs and West Pakistan Refugees.
Party leaders Premnath Dogra, Suraj Singh, Arvind Gupta, Capt. Ramesh Lal, Manmohan Singh, Som Dutt, Sanjeev Sharma, Bodh Raj, Sanjay, Mohan Prashar, Jarnail Singh, Prithvi Raj and other also addressed these rallies.
