Daljit Singh Chib Minister of State, Vice Chairman J&K State Advisory Board for Development of Kisans along with Dr. S.S. Jamwal, Director Agriculture Jammu, undertook the extensive tour of Asar, Bagar of District Doda and Mansar, Batote of District Ramban to assess the damages of crops namely Maize, Beans tomatoes, Bitter guard and other crops due to the Cloud burst.
The Vice Chairman personally visited the fields where crops got damaged due to cloud burst in twin Districts. He further added that he will press for the compensation to the farmers whose crops got damaged.
The Vice Chairman advised the farmers that they should take benefit of Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana which has been recently launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India.
While addressing he said that farmers are the real force behind the scene of the State’s economy. He said that Government has initiated numerous measures for welfare of the farmers. He said that the Board has been set up to function as a bridge between the Government and the farmers to address their issues expeditiously. He said that Government was giving due attention towards the problems of farmers by taking up various activities to improve their economic conditions.
The Vice Chairman assured the farmers that Union Ministry of Agriculture is keen to see J&K as the self sufficient in the field of Agriculture and Central Government is providing sufficient funds to boost the Agricultural economy of the State.
