Led by their President Dr. Hamid Iqbal, a large number of the members of All J&K Ph.D Association called on BJP State President & MLA Sat Sharma CA and submitted a memorandum containing their grievances and sought the intervention of the party in raising their concern with the Union HRD Ministry, the State Governor and Public Service Commission (PSC) and save their future.
Through the memorandum, these scholars mentioned that the Public Service Commission had invited applications for the posts of Assistant Professors in various disciplines with NET/Phd as basic qualification in the year 2013. They told that these posts were advertised after a gap of eight years and thousands of scholars had applied for the same. They further mentioned in the memorandum that the thousands of scholars got affected when the government came up with SRO-124, which was both discriminatory and repressive as those students who obtained degrees prior to enforcement of these regulations were asked to submit Minimum Standards and Procedure (MSP) certificate. This left over six thousand PhD holders ineligible, which was most unfortunate, they told.
Sat Sharma gave a patient hearing to these scholars and said that the party stands with them and assured that their concerns will be taken up with all those authorities who matter.
Besides Association Vice-President Dr. Renu Bala and General Secretary Dr. Sanjay Koul, BJP State Spokespersons-Prof. Virender Gupta and Balbir Ram Rattan, party leaders Bansi Lal Bharti, Ayodhya Gupta, Sanjay Baru, Arvind Gupta, Jeet Angral, Ajay Vaid were also present on the occasion.
