Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Media Incharge Kashmir, Altaf Thakur appealed Election Commission of India and Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir to grant an ex-gratia relief and a job to one of the family members of the mini- bus driver, killed during election duty by a mob at Taing Pora Bypass- Batamalloo, on 10th April.
“Ali Muhammad Daga, 55, of Berthana Qamarwari, Srinagar- was killed after a mob attacked the polling staff with stones at Taing Pora Bypass- Batamalloo on 10th April.” Thakur said.
He said that Daga is survived by two unmarried daughters, a son and his wife. The family lives in a tin-shed at Qamarabad Barthana area of Qamarwari Srinagar.
They are finding it hard to believe that the sole bread-earner of the family is no more. “The deceased used to drive a mini-bus of his neighbor and was earning the livelihood by driving the bus,” he said.
Thakur also appealed Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir for strict action against the miscreants responsible for the killing.
