Today’s world has seen a marked spurt in the advancement in every field related to the life of the people and physically handicapped persons are no longer an exception to this phenomenon. Science has revolutionized the facilitatory techniques for easing out the lives of this category individuals.
This was stated by J&K SC, ST, BC, Development Corporation Limited, Vice-Chairperson, Balbir Ram Rattan, while interacting with a handicapped category loanee from Corporation Bharat Bhushan, who has set up a multi items selling unit in Moti Bazar area of old city of Jammu.
Balbir said that physical disability doesn’t hamper the growth and development of an individual but the mental give up of a person complexes the scenario, giving an impression that a person can do or not do a thing. For a person, who believes in his or her aim, sky is the limit. There are unlimited ventures, which a handicaped person can successfully run without requiring much of physical efforts.
The VC said that many Non-Governmental organizations and financial institutions, including J&K SC, ST, BC, Development Corporation Limited, also help the handicapped persons in establishing the collective places of business, in which the the agencies help in the sheltered working of the handicap persons. From the procuring of the raw material to the outgoing finished goods or the provisions of services in case of service sectors, these agencies extend the required help.There are also many financial organizations in the society established exclusively for the purpose of helping in the establishement of own ventures by the handicapped persons.
Balbir added that there are many vocational jobs, which a handicap person can successfully establish a shop, some office job etc. The person can surely take the help of another person in doing the chores of his or her business if he thinks that he is unable to manage the chores. In this way, the handicapped person can even provide job to himself as well as to several others. This will also help in changing him from bread consumer to the bread earner.
