Highlighting achievements of his ten month tenure as Deputy Chief Minister and MLA Billwar, Dr Nirmal Singh has reiterated that he was committed to develop Billwar as a modal constituency.
Addressing a function at Gangyal, organized by Billwar Residents Association, Dr Singh drew attention towards the recently approved project of National Highway for Dayalachak-Shallan-Udhampur road, which was a long pending demand of the people. “This 25 km long road is a vital link for the Billwar residents with Kathua district headquarter, other important destinations and developing the same as National Highway will boost socio economic condition of the people,” he added.
The former Dy Cm informed that during the last ten month, Rs 200 crore developmental projects were sanctioned for Billwar constituency, which was earlier remained neglected by the previous Governments. These projects include Juthana bridge (Rs 47 crore), upgradation of Sub-District Hospital Billwar (Rs 21 crores), blacktopping of roads (more than Rs 5 crores), development of Billwar town (Rs 2 crores), additional accommodation in the Rest House (Rs 1.87 crores), infrastructure development in education sector (Rs 5 crores), etc, he said and added that under IHSDP, financial assistance was provided to a number of families for construction of houses in phased manner.
Dr Nirmal Singh said that for a balanced and overall development of Billawar, the entire constituency has been divided into three Mandals, comprising Billwar, Ramkot and Kandi.
