Hundreds of yoga lovers throng to the official residence of Deputy Chief Minister in Srinagar to perform yoga despite massive rains early on Wednesday morning.
The people have gathered on third International Day of Yoga, even as pre- dawn showers played a bit of a spoilsport.
The excited workers of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Kashmir said there would have been more participants here to stretch their bodies on this day, had there been showers free atmosphere.
National Vice- President and Jammu and Kashmir Incharge, Avinash Rai Khanna said yoga heals a person from stressful life and refreshes the soul. “Yoga has been recognized throughout world as it heals a soul and refreshes body,” Khanna told the participants, while leading the yoga asan.
Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh, while participating in the yoga, said it (yoga) unites the souls. “World has accepted the countless benefits of yoga and is celebrating the day throughout the world today,” he said, adding, people must adopt yoga in daily life to avail its benefits.
Present on the occasion were Minister for Commerce and Industries- Chander Prashad Ganga; MLCs Sofi Yousuf, Ramesh Arora, Surinder Amberdar and Charanjeet Singh Khalsa; Vice- Chairmen, Daljeet Singh Chib, Dr Ali, G M Mir, Khalid Jehangir; District Presidents Srinagar, Budgam, Fayaz Bhat and G H khan respectively; District Vice- President Srinagar, Ashok Bhat, Asif Masoudi, Hina Bhat, Moulvi Tariq and District General Secretaries Arif Raja, Zubair Nazir.
