JU VC brought disrepute to his profession : BJP

Strongly condemning the recent utterance made by Jammu University Vice-Chancellor Prof. R.D. Sharma on the killing of dreaded terrorist Burhan Wani, the State BJP has said that by saying so Mr. Sharma has brought disrepute to his profession and the position that he is holding.

BJP State Spokesperson, Balbir Ram Rattan, while expressing anguish and shock over such an irresponsible outburst, said that the Vice-Chancellor has created doubts about his credentials as such a statement was not expected from an academician of his stature and it looks that he is playing in the hands of separatists and anti national forces. Such a statement has also disrespected the martyrs, who have been sacrificing their lives in counter insurgency operations in the valley and other parts of this border state. His statement may disturb the peace of Jammu region and cause untoward happenings, he feared.

Balbir Ram Rattan said that the Chancellor and the Pro-Chancellor of Jammu University should take cognizance of the episode and take stern action against Prof. R.D Sharma, who has even gone to the extent of speaking the voice of Pak PM Nawaz Sharif terming Burhan Wani as “Mass based personality”, which shows that the VC is toeing the line of separatists, whose only agenda has been to provoke the young boys and push them towards  anti-national activities.

“The VC is trying to behave like a politician and as a security expert rather than devoting time and energy to be a responsible head of Jammu’s largest educational institution”, Balbir said and added that it is foolish on the part of an academician to expect the security persons to catch Burhan Wani live, who was carrying AK-47 and other weapons and had reward of Rs. 10 lakh on his head.

Balbir also advised the VC to focus on development of Jammu University as a hub of quality education and personality development of its scholars rather than dabbling in subjects that do not fall in his domain.
