Speaker J&K Legislative Assembly and MLA, Gandhi Nagar, Kavinder Gupta today visited the residence of Palak Gupta who topped the 12th class examination in commerce stream with 484 marks. She is the student of Shiksha Niketan Higher Secondary School, Jeevan Nagar.
Gupta congratulated the girl and her family for coming out with shining colours in the examination. He said that the girl has not only brought laurels to her family but to the whole area.
Talking to media persons during his visit, the Speaker said that the students who excel in academics or any other field are a great asset for the nation and they need to be encouraged for their future endeavors.
Highlighting the need for promoting immense talent available in the state, he said that the only thing required for its actual realization is to provide them with the means and to encourage them in achieving their goals.
The Speaker said the government is putting in sincere efforts to streamline the education sector and promote the extra-curricular activities in the education institutions for the holistic development of the students.
Asserting for the development of education and sports infrastructure in the state, Gupta sought the active participation of the teachers, parents and the mentors of the students.
“It is these people around whom the life of a student evolves”; with their positive and constructive approach the hidden talent can be showcased, he said.
Palak Gupta, the Commerce topper said, “ The felicitation is just a token of respect, but it is a proud moment for me and my family to receive this respect and love from a person heading such a prestigious institution in the state and these things bring in a sense of competition & motivation to work hard and perform well in the future, she added.
Baldev Singh Billawaria, Vinay Gupta, Harbans chowdhary, Rakesh Kumar, Kulbir Kour, Lucky Chib, Pardeep Kumar, Sunny Mehra, Peer Nasir were prominent among those who were present on the occasion.
