Led by BJP Ex-servicemen Cell State Co-Convenor Bishamber Singh Jasrotia and Mahila Morcha District Vice-President Ranjana Kher, over a dozen men and women from Buta Nagar, Paloura, visited office of SC, ST, BC Development Corporation Limited at Jammu to meet its Vice-Chairperson Balbir Ram Rattan, for loan related queries.
While talking to the Vice-Chairperson, they told that they are going through social and economic hardships and it has become difficult for them to meet their daily needs.
They urged upon the VC to consider their cases for the economic help in the form of loan facility, so that they can start their own work and lead life with dignity, without having any need to ask for pity from the others. They further added that they are very much hopeful that their problems will be heard and given appropriate solution in the form of financial assistance to be self dependent.
Balbir Ram Rattan, while speaking to the loan aspirants, said that the Corporation has been established with a view to empower the weaker sections of the society. The Government of India as well as state’s coalition are working for the social and economic upliftment of the weaker sections of the society, women in particular, through various schemes.
He said that SC, ST, BC Development Corporation provides loan to women for Cutting Tailoring shop, setting up of Sewing Training Centre, Beauty Parlour, Handmade bags unit, Cosmetics Store, Dairy etc. He said that Apex Corporation of the Government of India finances the projects which are approved through proper procedure. An amount of 2 lakh rupees is provided for said works with an interest rate of 6% for time duration of 54 months. Similarly, the men can avail loan for transport sector, small industry, provisional store etc.
He further said that women comprise of the 50% population of any society, so their empowerment is utmost necessary for the progress of the nation along with the men. He appealed to the visiting men and women for establishing their own ventures, no matter how small they seem, so that the foundation stone for a better future could be laid down.
