On the occasion of International Women Day, BJP Mahila Morcha District President Rekha Mahajan organized a programme at Trikuta Nagar Office. Over 200 women participated in the programme. MoS Education Priya Sethi was the Chief Guest, while Social Welfare Board Chairperson Dr. Nirmal Kamal was Guest of Honour.
Priya Sethi, on this occasion, said that women constitute almost 50% of the country’s population and their role in the family, in the society is important. They are climbing new heights in every field and are no less than men in the modern era. She said that the PM Narendra Modi’s government at the Centre has displayed concern for the social and economic empowerment of women and a number of Welfare Schemes have been launched exclusively for them. The BJP coalition in J&K too has launched number of welfare schemes for them. Be it Beti Bachao Beti Padao, Ladli Beti, Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan (PMSMA) for quality antenatal care for all pregnant women, Universal screening of HIV/AIDS for all pregnant women, Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakram (JSSK) provides free care for child birth in all public hospitals, “Kilkari” weekly audio message to pregnant women & parents of infants, every scheme is focussed on woman, her social and economic upliftment. She asked the Mahila Morcha activists to help the needy and poor women to avail the benefits of welfare schemes.
Dr. Nirmal Kamal, on this occasion, highlighted the Social Welfare Board Schemes which have been framed and initiated for the welfare of women, girl students, widows etc. She also spoke on the role of a women in nation building and the need to grant them equal status in all fields.
BJP State General Secretary (Org.) Ashok Kaul said that the BJP is the first political party in the country which has granted 33% reservation to women in its organizational setup, which itself proves the party’s concern for their participation in the decision making body of the party.
Rekha Mahajan, while speaking on the women international day, said that dedicating a single day in one year to women is not justified as every woman works around the clock without taking any rest or proceeding on vacation. Her role as mother, wife and sister is highly appreciable but still she is seen facing torture, assault, domestic violence for which the male dominated society is responsible.
BJP State Vice-President Rajni Sethi, BJP District President Baldev Singh Billawaria, District General Secretary Vinay Kumar Gupta, Mahila Morcha State Vice-President Monika Khosla, State General Secretary Sanjita Dogra, Morcha State Secretary Neeru Anand also spoke on the occasion.
Mahila Morcha District General Secretary Savita Anand conducted the proceedings of the programme, while District Vice-President, Inderjeet Kour and District Secretary Pooja Chouhan presented vote of thanks.
