Passes Resolution to Expose NC for Humiliating People of Jammu & Kashmir
BJP Rajouri unit today held a meeting at Dak Bunglow Rajouri and took strong exception to the recent opposition of National Conference against the resolution passed in the Upper House of J&K legislature. This resolution was passed to Honour Maharaja Hari Singh and to declare his birthday as a state holiday. Senior BJP leaders including Varinder Jeet Singh, BJP Prabari District Rajouri, MLC Vibodh Gupta, Dinesh Sharma District President and Seh Prabari Rajinder Gupta were also present in the meeting. These leaders strongly criticized National Conference for bringing disgrace to Mharaja Hari Singh and to the people of Jammu & Kashmir. The members present in the meeting passed a resolution and asked all the leaders of National Conference from Jammu to resign and to tender unconditional apology from the people of Jammu. The resolution passed during the meeting said that by opposing a historic resolution on Maharaja Hari Singh the leaders of National Conference specially from Jammu stand exposed as they have always betrayed the people of Jammu. They resolution further added that every one must understand these politicians whose only motive is to exploit the innocent people of Jammu.
Addressing the meeting Varinder Jeet Singh, Prabari District Rajouri described Maharaja Hari Singh as a visionary leader who never discriminated among Hindus, Muslims and Sikhs. He said that Maharaja gave importance to merit and appointed best of leaders from all communities in his court, administration and the army. In his address MLC Vibodh Gupta said that Maharaja Hari Singh’s legacy as a ruler of a vast and diverse kingdom who loved his land and all his people is something we need to know and learn from. He said that Maharaja Hari Singh brought many reforms in the education sector as well and launched a chain of educational institutions throughout the state. He made primary education compulsory in the state and introduced laws prohibiting child marriage. Regarding his uniform policies for all the three regions of the state MLC Vibodh said that Maharaja Hari Singh struggled throughout his life and united all the three regions of the state. He was the one who made Urdu as the official language of the state. The leaders opposing him should be ashamed of their acts. In his address BJP district President Dinesh Sharma said that Maharaja Hari Singh was a great social reformer. He took keen interest to extend post offices and brought improvement in telecommunication sector as well. Dinesh said that at that time Maharaja launched a movement against drug abuse and passed law called the Juvenile smoking regulation in 1929, whereby smoking among young children was totally forbidden. Opposing leader of such a stature is a disgrace to the people of Jammu & Kashmir, the resolution passed during the meeting added. Prominent among other senior leaders of BJP who attended the meeting included Atam Gupta, Darbar Choudhary, Talib Mir, Kamal Bakshi, Ashwani Kocharr, Dev Raj Sharma, Kamal Gupta, Anju Chadda and all mandal presidents of the district.
