BJP State Spokesperson, Prof. Virender Gupta strongly criticized the opposition for the Governor, NN Vohra’s address in the joint session of legislature while creating unprecedented scene and forcing the Governor to leave his address within 15 minutes. He also strongly condemned the disrespect shown to the national anthem by the opposition, as they continued with their protest, raising anti-government slogans when the national anthem was being played after the Governor ended his address.

He demanded that Speaker of the House and the state government should initiate appropriate action against the legislatures as per the law of the country. The explanation rendered by Congress legislature party leader Rigzin Jora and NC MLA Devendra Singh Rana that National Anthem was not audible cannot be entertained as all the legislatures are well aware of the fact that national anthem is played when Governor ends his address.

He said that opposition, instead of showing interest in the development of the state, helping the government to bring normalcy in the state, has chosen the path of disruption and added that by adopting these tactics they are helping the forces those want the Valley to remain disturbed. He said that opposition leaders should shun such like acts and extend their helping hands to the government to put the state on the track of peace, development and progress. He warned that the such like action shall boomerang and the opposition may have to repent for their omissions and commission.
