J&K BJP Spokesperson, Prof. Virender Gupta expressed his great shock and distress on the inquiry committee report submitted by ADC Srinagar on the NIT episode, implicating the non-local students by charging them of vitiating the atmosphere of the campus without saying any word on the role of Kashmiri students, who provoked the non-locals by raising anti-India and pro-Pak slogans while celebrating the Indian Team defeat in the T20 cricket Match. He also expressed his anguish that the Committee also did not take cognizance of the un-called for brutal lathi-charge and teargas shells on the peaceful demonstration of the non-local students, not sparing the even the girls students, who were carrying national flag and chanting pro-India slogans. Prof. Virender deplored and termed the state police action and the probe report of ADC as biased and prejudicial and demanded impartial CBI or judicial inquiry into the whole episode.
The Spokesperson expressed his great disappointment on the reported statement of NIT authorities for taking strong action against several non-local students amounting to their arrest and rustication. He cautioned the authorities against any misadventure that precipitates the matter further. He advised them to work for restoration of peace in the campus and building confidence among the non-local students about their security and academic performance. Prof. Virender also criticized the NIT authorities for their utter failure in tackling the situation and allowing it to aggravate. He appealed to the Union HRD ministry to take sufficient measures in ensuring the security and academic justice to the non-local students and asked for appointment of a Nodal Officer, who can be available to the students to attend their grievances.
