Paying rich tributes to Dr Shyama Prasad Mookerjee and remembering him for his sacrifices for J&K on his Punya tithi, a massive program was organized at Bhagwati Nagar area of Jammu West in which State President BJP and MLA Jammu West Sat Sharma (CA) presided over the program and threw light on the life of Jan Sangh leader. A large number of people participated in the program including local residents of the area, social and political activists.
Addressing the gathering, Sat Sharma said that Mookerjee was born in a Bengali Kulin Brahmin family and he was an academician as well who also completed his law and practiced as an advocate in Calcultta High Court and also served as the youngest Vice Chancellor of University of Calcutta in 1934.
He said that though he served as a Union Minister under Nehru’s regime in 1947 but due to his positive approach towards his nation, he left the part and his ministry and founded BJS (Bharatiya Jan Sangh) to spread nationalist approach of the party & to make people understand that India is one and every Indian should unite under one banner.
Sharma said that Dr Mookerjee was a resident of Bengal but he always thought of nation as one and his sacrifice for Jammu and Kashmir will also never be forgotten as he was the one who dared to enter J&K in 1953 to end the permit system from the state as before 1959 there was a permit system in J&K and anyone coming from outside was not allowed to enter without a permit. He also stated that a separate PrimeMinister also ruled J&K at that time but Dr Mookerjee’s ideology for his motherland sparked a great revolution and BJS was successful in removing the permit system and Prime Minister rule from the State and Dr Mookerjee’s sacrifice for his motherland did not go in vain.
Stating his vision of Ek Pradhan, Ek Nishan, EK Vidhan he always fought for the interests of his nation and Indians will always remember him as a person who brought a major revolution in uniting Jammu and Kashmir with India.
State Vice President BJP Parmodh Kapahi also spoke on the occasion and remembered Dr Mookerjee for his sacrifices.
Karan Sat Sharma, Asha Sharma, Rakesh Mahajan District President Udhampur Alp Vistarak, Sanjay Sawhney, Naresh Sharma Alp Vistarak, Darshan Lal, Dalip Singh, Rakesh Kumar, Raj Kumar, Harbhajan Singh, Deepak Badyal, Ankush Sharma, Atul Bakshi and several others were also present on the occasion.
