Minister of PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Sham Choudhary, who had been deputed by the party to visit Rajouri for personal assessment of the situation, shared first hand information with the BJP State President & MLA Sat Sharma (C.A), State General Secretary (Org.) Ashok Kaul, senior leader Ch. Talib Hussain and MLA Ravinder Raina, on his return to Jammu.
Sham Choudhary, while briefing in details about the situation in Rajouri, told that some anti-social elements had provoked the people of Rajouri town, which resulted into tension, loss of properties and law & order problem there.
The Minister, who also had meetings with the people of all the communities and the local administration at Rajouri, further told that he succeeded in convincing the people to not get misled but stay united and within few hours, the shutters of shops were opened and normal life resumed, which itself displayed that none of the community in Rajouri want to create any problem but a handful of anti-social elements wanted to create hatred but their plans failed as the civil society and prominent people took lead in defusing the situation.
Sham Choudhary had assured the people of every sort of help from the government and appealed them to maintain communal harmony. He said that a team under ADC has been constituted to assess the losses suffered by the people and the other team under ACR will keep eye on situation and work towards ensuring total peace and normalcy in the district.
Sham Choudhary said that the people were of the common view that the elements behind this episode should be identified and booked under law. He also made a fervent appeal to the people of twin districts of Rajouri and Poonch to preserve the tradition of brotherhood and maintain harmony so that such incidents do not occur again.
