S. Darshan Singh, Convenor of State BJP Transport Cell in a statement took a serious note of the news item in a section of press in which Traffic Police is proposing to reduce the permits of Mini Buses in the city of Jammu.
Darshan Singh, while reacting to this, said that the proposal of the Traffic Police to reduce the Permit of the mini buses, is nothing except escaping from the responsibility. He further added that keeping in view the present public rush and expansion of Jammu city there is a need to employ more mini buses in the existing routes as well as in the new routes which are so far are unconnected because of lack of public conveyance. He lashed at the traffic police and said that instead of taking some concrete measures to regularise the existing traffic in the city, Traffic Police is trying to twist the basic issue. He further said that there is immediate need of proper regularization of traffic in which proper stops needs to identified and the buses should not be allowed to stop with their whims and fancies. Traffic Police should establish a closer rapport with the operators/owner of the buses and
evolve a mechanism to ensure more matadors to some un-served roots, which are the major cause of inconveniences to the general public particularly those without their own convenience.
He further added that there is immediate need of providing facilities for the proper stand of Mini Buses at its termination point which needs to be equipped with basic facilities like water/ shed for the operator waiting for their turn. He appealed the concerned authorities to immediate convene the meeting of all the stakeholders to find out a proper and lasting solutions of the problem.
