The Vice-Chairperson, J&K SC, ST & BC Development Corporation Limited Balbir Ram Rattan, handed over ‘Subsidy Cheques’ of Srinagar District to the beneficiaries, alongwith Managing Director Ravinder Kumar Pandita, Financial Advisor/CAO, Vijay Kumar Tak and Srinagar District Manager Arif Haleem Khan.
Two women belonging to Backward Class category- Shaheena Farooq of Abi Karpora, Dalgate and Fancy of Zero Bridge, Rajbagh, were handed over ‘Subsidy Cheques’ by the VC. Each of the two has availed loan of rupees one lakh from the Corporation and set up Crewl Embroidery units. The subsidy is provided to the beneficiary by Corporation under Bank Tie-up scheme. The loan amount is released by the Bank, which is sanctioned in favour of the beneficiary on the recommendation by the Corporation authorities.
Balbir Ram Rattan, on this occasion, said that embroidery, carpet weaving, willow work, wood carving chain stich etc are part of centuries old rich Kashmiri culture and need to be preserved and promoted. It will not only provide means of earning but also pass the trade for future generations.
Conveying his good wishes to the loanees for progress and successful running of their units, Balbir Ram Rattan, emphasized upon the Corporation officials that more number of “Subsidy Cases” should be sponsored to various Banks as per service area approach so that maximum number of income generating units can be established with Bank assistance to the Target Group beneficiaries to strengthen their economic position, thus improving their livelihood.
