Yudhvir Sethi calls for judicious use of water

S.M. Shishu Niketan organises Inter School Symposium

S. M. Shishu Niketan Hr. Sec. School, Anand Nagar, Bohri organized an Inter School symposium competition on the topic “ROLE OF YOUTH IN BRINGING AWARENESS FOR WATER MANAGEMENT FOR COMMON PEOPLE”.
Sh. Yudhvir Sethi, State Vice President, J&K BJP was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
The programme initiated with the lighting of the lamp which was followed by welcome address by the Secretary NSM group of Colleges and Schools. Mrs. Manikarnika Bhasin, Principal of S.M. Shishu Niketan Hr. Sec. School paid a tribute to Late Sh. T.R. Mahajan and described him as a great visionary and educationist. She said that he was a role model and inspiration to many but specially to the members of NSM Educational Society.
Stressing on judicious use of water, Yudhvir Sethi said that world over the water management has been marked as a major concern and countywide awareness programs are underway to ensure better water management. He said the youth have a decisive role to play in motivating the society towards water management and ensuring that common people efficiently utilize the precious water available to them.
He observed that this Scenario poses a sense of responsibility amongst the youth in the developed as well as developing country for managing the water resources towards the goals of sustainability and self reliance .
He appreciated the management for choosing such a relevant subject and providing the students an appropriate platform to express their views. He further said that we do not realize that water is the scarcest natural endowment in the world. He should use it wisely.
While speaking on the occasion Chairman SM College of Education called upon the students to play an active role in spreading awareness in the society on Water Management and encouraging younger generation to efficiently utilize each and every drop of water. He said that Rain Water harvesting should be promoted and efforts should be made to replenish the ground water table.
Students from S.M. Shishu Niketan Hr. Sec. School, Anand Nagar Bohri, Tiny Tots School Sainik Colony, Luthra Public School Talab Tillo, Govt. Migrant School Bohri, Govt. Boys School Nawabad, Co-operative School Talab Tillo, DBN School Camp Road were participated in the symposium and expressed their views. The competition was judged by Dr. O.P. Gupta, Retd. Doctor, S. Gurcharan Singh, Retd. Chief Education Officer, and Sh. G.C. Sanhotra Retd. Engineering Geologist. The symposium was organized in the loving memory of Late Sh. T.R. Mahajan, the fouder, Chairman of N.S.M Group of Colleges and Schools.
Ms. Surbhi Bandral from S.M. Shishu Niketan Higher Secondary School, Bohri secured Ist rank, Ms.Gurpreet Kour from Co-operative School, Talab Tillo secured second rank and Ms.Shruti Padroo of Govt. Migrant School. Bohri was adjudged as third.
Mrs. Meenakshi Koul was the anchor for the Programme. Vote of thanks was presented by Mrs. Kawaljeet kour.
