Minister of State for Tourism, Education, Technical Education, Culture, Horticulture, Floriculture and Parks Priya Sethi inspected Government Fruit Plant Nursery, Misriwala, here today. While inspecting the nursery cum orchid area in the Nursery, the Minister observed that the department should go for wide publicity of the varieties of fruit saplings available, adding that people should be made aware of the fact that the Government nurseries have good quality plants and are available at a price much lesser than the open market . She held detailed deliberations with the functionaries of the department and instructed them to gear up production of quality planting material. Calling upon authorities to get necessary accreditation for the nurseries, Priya directed that all nurseries of the department should have the required certifications and this process should be expedited. She also issued directions for improving infrastructure like installation of Green House, Micro Irrigation Systems and other such required facilities to improve productivity in these nurseries. She directed for taking up plantation of high density mango plants in the nursery so as to meet the demand of the Mango village which is coming up at Khour. Director, Horticulture Jammu A.K. Sharma, Chief Horticulture Officer, Jammu and other officers of the department were present during the inspection.
