Bali calls for stepping up awareness campaign to highlight SBM

Minister for Health & Medical Education, Bali Bhagat has called for speedy implementation of Central Government’s flagship programme Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) in letter and spirit to achieve its real objective at the ground level. He directed the implementing agency to step up awareness campaign in the rural areas to highlight the significance of the programme so that the people voluntarily come forward to avail its benefits. Addressing a public meeting at village Bhadore in Raipur-Domana constituency near here today, the Minister said that SBM is one of the most ambitious programmes of Central Government which is being implemented throughout the country to ensure a toilet for every household as a step towards cleanliness and sanitation in the habitations. He said the Prime Minister, Narendera Modi himself has led the nation-wide campaign to enlighten the countrymen about this unique programme. The State Government is also laying equal thrust on this programme to achieve its real spirit. The State Government has earmarked a substantial amount of money to distribute among the beneficiaries for construction of toilet units and people must utilize the opportunity and contribute in the joint campaign to ensure cleanliness and healthy environment in their localities, said the Minister. On the occasion, the Minister distributed SBM cheques amounting to Rs. 2.52 lakh among 21 beneficiaries of Panchayat Bhadore at the rate of Rs. 12000 each for developing the toilet units. Later, the Minister also paid visit to village Kote and inspected the on-going development works. He called upon the executing agencies to speed up the pace and complete the works as per the time schedule. He directed for ensuring quality of works strictly as per the laid down specifications. He asked the locals to monitor the quality of works to ensure the durable assets.
