Led by Bansi Lal Gupta, President, Sports Goods Manufacturers Association (SGMA), Jammu & Kashmir, called on BJP State President & MLA Sat Sharma at party headquarter, narrated the problems being faced by the Bat Industry and sought intervention of the party in getting the same resolved.
While highlighting problems being faced by Cricket Bat Industry of Jammu & Kashmir State, the members of the deputation expressed their resentment over the move to allow export of willow clefts which will affect 600 units and result into closure of the industry pushing into starvation lakhs of people, who are directly and indirectly associated with it. They also expressed their concern over sending willow clefts out of the state through illegal means. It was also highlighted that during the checking of finished bats at Lakhanpur, the items are not properly handled which further cause damages and stressed upon that willow clefts which is confiscated/seized by the forest department should be put for auction for the bat manufacturing units as early as possible through proper advertisement.
Sat Sharma assured the deputation that their grievances will be looked into and taken up with the concerned authorities.
