On the occasion of 188th birth anniversary of Rani of Jhansi, Lakshmibai, BJP Freedom Fighters & Martyrs Cell under State Convenor Bharat Bhushan Sharma organized a programme at Kachi Chawni office, wherein Minister of State for Education Priya Sethi was the Chief Guest.
BJP State Secretary Sanjay Baru, Mahila Morcha State President Purnima Sharma and District President Baldev Singh Billawaria shared the dias with the minister.
Priya Sethi, on this occasion, said that she was one of the leading figures of the Indian Rebellion of 1857 and became for Indian nationalists a symbol of resistance to the British Raj. She was educated at home and was more independent in her childhood than others of her age; her studies included shooting, horsemanship, and fencing. She said that the life of Lakshmibai is a source of inspiration for the womenfolk in particular.
Sanjay Baru said that Lakshmibai was born in the days when the female child was confined to the four walls of the house and could not even think to carry an weapon or ride on horse.
Purnima Sharma described Rani of Jhansi as Iron lady of her times, who did not surrender but sacrificed her life and wrote history in pre-Independent India.
Bharat Bhushan Sharma said that remembering the great warriors provide and opportunity to the young generations to learn the history and the people who created history by their valor and courage.
Jammu West District President Ayodhya Gupta conducted the proceedings of the programme.
BJP leaders including Vinay Gupta, Anju Dogra, Sanjeev Sharma, Prem Gupta, Rekha Mahajan, Tarun Sharma, Munish Khajuria, Ajay Vaid, Vipan Shastri, Hari Om Sharma, Lalit Raina and others took part in the programme.
