Led by BJP Mahila Morcha State President Purnima Sharma, women leaders and activists of the party celebrated Holi in the premises of party headquarters. They greeted each other amid distribution of sweets and sprinkling of colors.
BJP State Vice-President Dr. Drakshana Andrabi, Former MoS & MLA Priya Sethi, senior leaders Usha Choudhary, Sheela Handoo, Sanjita Dogra, Kamla Gupta, Sangita Gupta, Jaspinder Kour and others joined the Mahila Morcha activists to celebrate the day.
Purnima Sharma, on this occasion, said that Holi is an ancient Hindu festival with cultural rituals. It is the festival of colours or the festival of sharing love. It is also the festive day to end and rid oneself of past errors, to end conflicts by meeting others, a day to forget and forgive. Holi also marks the start of spring, and for many the start of the new year, which in reality is also a festival enjoyed by old, young, men, women and even the people from other religions too enjoy it which furthers binds the society and reflects respect for other faiths.
Priya Sethi, while greeting the people, said that India is a country where different festivals are celebrated by different religions, which itself display unity in diversity and further brings people together. He said that the colorful bouquet of Indian society is also an example of co-existence despite different rituals and cultures and festivals like Holi serve for strengthening the social bonds in the Indian society. She expressed hope that the festival brings happiness, prosperity and progress in the lives of Indians.
