On the occasion of Balidaan Divas of the founder of Bharatiya Jana Sangh, Dr. Shyama Prasad Mookherjee, BJP Jammu District Mahila Morcha (BJPMM) under its District President Rekha Mahajan, distributed sewing machines among the poor women in Ward No 11, Kumharan Mohalla, falling in Jammu East Assembly Constituency.
The women belonging to BPL families were handed over sewing machines with an objective of extending them help to earn livelihood by setting up of own unit of cutting and sewing.
Rekha Mahajan, while speaking on the occasion, said that Dr. Shyama Prasad Mookherjee was a great ideologue, who worked for the nation and its people and laid down his life for the cause of nation in Jammu & Kashmir. She said that although Dr. Mookherjee was born in West Bengal but breathed his last in a jail in Srinagar, where he was kept for entering the state without a permit as he was opposed to the provision of separate symbols.
“Dr. Mookherjee was of the view that J&K was integral part of India and like other states, it should have single constitution and single flag”, Rekha said and added that it was due to the sacrifice of Dr. Mookherjee which resulted into the abolition of the post of PM but the task still remains unfinished.
Rekha Mahajan said that the true tribute to Dr. Shyam Prasad Mookherjee on his Balidaan Divas would be take pledge to work towards fulfilling the slogan of Ek Nishan-Ek Vidhan-Ek Pradhan for full integration of the state with the rest of the country.
Mahila Morcha State Secretary Neeru Anand, District General Secretary Savita Anand, Pooja Chouhan, Reva Masoom, Surinder Kour, Saroj Gupta, Sharda Devi, Surekha Bhardwaj, Manju Dogra, Pinki Devi, also paid their tributes.
