Prof Hari Om, Political Advisor to State BJP President Jugal Kishore Sharma, alongwith State General Secretary Kavinder Gupta and State Spokespersons- Dr. Nirmal Kamal and Sanjiv Sharma, while addressing media persons on Monday, rejected the oft-repeated claim of the Congress leaders that the Congress was founded by Indians to achieve for India independence from Britain and said that it was founded by the Britishers in December 1885 to defeat the ongoing freedom struggle in the country. “The Congress was not founded by the Indians for achieving freedom from imperialist Great Britain, which started interfering in the political affairs of India and exploiting the Indian weaknesses and natural resources through the canny, notorious and barbarous East India Company in 1600 AD. It was the brainchild of three Britons, A O Hume, a retired civil servant, Lord Duffer in, the then Governor General of India, and the then Conservative Secretary of State for India and Marquess of Salisbury Lord Randolph Churchill and their whole objective was to puncture and defeat the ongoing freedom struggle,” he said, and added that the Congress unleashed three major movements in the country between 1885 and 1947 in 1920, 1930 and 1942, but all ended in a fiasco much to the happiness of British imperialists.
“Even British Parliamentarian W.W. Wedderburn, who became the first chairman of the British Committee of the Indian National Congress, formed in 1889 in London, and remained in that post till the end of his life, candidly acknowledged that Hume knew that the ‘existing government administered by foreign officials on autocratic lines was dangerously out of touch with the people’ and ‘there was an imminent danger of a violent revolt which might endanger British rule in India,” Prof Hari Om also said. “The Congress started non-cooperation movement in 1920 to avenge the Jallianwallah Bagh, Amritsar, unprovoked firing on innocent unarmed Indians, mostly villagers, on the Baisakhi day, but withdrew it in February 1922 for no reason, thus leaving the Indians high and dry. Had it not withdrawn the movement, India would have won freedom in 1922 as the general public had by then brought the British to their knees. It started Civil Disobedience Movement (1930-1934) with much fanfare to achieve Puran swaraj and Quit India Movement (1942) against the British to achieve independence, but all ended in a fiasco because the Congress leadership never wanted to take things too far,” he also said, and added that the Congress consistently helped London surmount the problems posed by the Indians committed to achieving liberation from London.
Prof Hari Om bemoaned that those leaders in the Congress who were genuinely committed to the cause of the country were just odd faces in the party whose views were never considered. To prove his point he said that Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Sri Aurobindo Ghose, Bepin Chandra Pal, Lala Lajpat Rai, who represented ‘new Spirit’, and Subhas Chandra Bose many others were either rendered ineffective or forced to leave the party. “Those who controlled the Congress organisation did not allow these great leaders to influence the Congress’s policy, which they rightly termed as policy of political mendicancy”. He said the today’s Congress is no different and the Congress-led UPA Government during the past ten years has left no stone unturned to destroy India socially, culturally, economically and politically; undermine the country’s democratic and Constitutional institutions; and weaken the Indian State itself. That’s the reason the people across the country have started abandoning it and turning towards the BJP under the inspiring leadership of BJP national president Rajnath Singh and its PM nominee Narendra Modi, he said, and added that the Narendra Modi’s call for Congress-free India needs to be viewed in this context. He accused Left-oriented and fake secular historians of not telling the truth about the origin of the Congress.
Prof Hari Om asked the Congress leaders to first read the history of Indian freedom struggle and the role of the Congress and then speak. “It was not because the Congress that India won freedom; India won freedom because of the supreme sacrifices made by the general public,” he said. He urged the people of the state to reject the Congress out of hand as it has already caused an immense damage to the Indian polity, society and economy and vote for the BJP, which stands for unity, integrity, social justice, communal amity, social harmony, development, corruption-free India, transparency, accountability, equal treatment to all and strengthening of all political and constitutional institutions. He expressed the hope that the people of Jammu & Kashmir will recognize the gravity of the situation and join the Narendra Modi’s pious 272+ save India mission.
Kavinder Gupta, who has been looking after election management related issues, briefed about the ongoing preparations of scheduled Narendra Modi’s Rally to be held at Hiranagar on March 26, said that the party has nominated State General Secretary Rajiv Jasrotia as Rally Incharge. He said entire leadership of the state unit has been rendering its services at different levels to ensure successful conduct of this important event. He said that the party is in constant touch with the administration and our activists are reaching out to the masses to ensure their participation in the rally.
