Government is determined to revive and revitalize cooperative movement in the State with focus on holding elections for different cooperative societies from primary to secondary level at the earliest. This was stated by the Minister for Cooperative, Chering Dorjay while chairing a review meeting convened to take stock of functioning of the department. The Minister said that Cooperative Movement has played a vital role in economic development of the State. He reiterated the commitment of the present dispensation to boost the cooperative movement in view of its huge potential to generate employment opportunity. He stressed on generating awareness regarding the modern techniques and new developments in the cooperative sector among the youth to deal with the challenge of unemployment in the state. While expressing serious concern over shortage of manpower in the department, the Minister asked for referring all vacant posts to the concerned recruiting agencies. While speaking on the occasion, Additional Registrar Jammu, Anjana Tickoo highlighted the progress of department under various sectors like issuance of Kissan Credit Cards (KCCs), audit position of the societies, revival of PACs, revival of 28 societies etc. Officers who attended the meeting include Joint Registrar Special Jammu, Trishla Kumari, Joint Registrar Accounts Jammu, R.K. Thapa, General Manager, Viqar Ahmed Giri, Joint Registrars Cooperative Societies, Deputy Registrars Cooperative Societies and District Audit Officers.
