Dr.Gagan  distributes Ration Card under “National Food Security Act” at  R.S Pura

M.L.A R.S Pura Dr. Gagan Bhagat started the distribution of New Ration Cards under the recently launched National Food Security Act (N.F.S.A) in the State at Village Ban Sultan Miran Sahib in R.S Pura Constituency. The demand of Ration Card was very genuine as the people were demanding it for the last several months but due to disparities in the P.H.H, N.P.H.H, and EX List, the department as well as the consumers were finding very tough the new classification as per the N.F.S.A. While addressing the gathering Dr. Gagan Bhagat said J&K is doing well under the National Food Security Act (N.F.S.A), as M.L.A R.S Pura Dr. Gagan Bhagat on Saturday  started distribution of New Ration Cards to the beneficiaries. From  February 1, 2016 the National Food Act has been implemented in all the  districts of the state .Five kg of rice per person is as per the central law but to increase it is our mandate. We will review this once we get details from the people and will take corrective measures” to the coalition government of B.J.P in Jammu & Kashmir . He further said, “The controversy is over reduction of the scale, but I assure the people of R.S Pura Constituency that the government won’t create any deficiency of ration and it will be provided as per 100 percent requirement. The government will maintain a reasonable scale of ration .“Under the N.F.S.A, the people in the priority category – more than 60 percent of Jammu and Kashmir’s population – will get an assured supply of ration right at their doorsteps in a hassle-free environment. Any person who is denied ration shall be given the same according to the Food Security Allowance through an inbuilt mechanism which has been incorporated in the Act at State level,” he added. The Act was passed by parliament in 2013 to provide for food and nutritional security by ensuring access to adequate quantity of quality food at affordable prices and to enable people to live a life of dignity.“The whole idea is to put food on table for the poorest of the poor. Presently, the department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (F,C.S & C.A) is providing ration to a population of 12 Lakh people at lower rates. But under the NFSA, a massive portion of the population, 74.13 Lakh to be exact, will be get rice at Rs.3 per kg and wheat at Rs.2 per kg. Another 45 lakh people will be provided wheat at Rs. 8 per kg and rice at Rs 10 per kg,” Dr. Gagan said.To rectify the mistakes and to clarify some important points M.L.A R.S Pura Dr. Gagan Bhagat had himself taken the initiative and will distribute the ration card himself in the Villages and at the Fair Price Shops of the Department so that he can interact with the consumers and listen to the grievance and along with him the A.D ,T.S.O ,Tehsildar and other officials of the administration will also accompany so that the people of R.S Pura get their due share and no deserving person is deprived of his rights, said T.S.O R.S Pura Ashwani Sharma. The department has also opened Ration Card Data Based Management System in A.D of the F,C.S & C.A department , and the plan is to open it at every Tehsil level, so far, only 11 states and union territories including Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Delhi and Chandigarh have implemented the food Act. On the occasion A.D Nazir Choudhary, Tehsildar R.S Pura Sohan Rana,B.D.O Miran Sahib Naresh Kumar,T.S O R.S Pura Ashwani Sharma, B.J.P Mandal Pradhan Miran Sahib Devendra Sharma, T.S.O Miran Sahib T.R Khajuria, S.H.O Miran Sahib Pawan Kumar,Ramesh Lal, Abhishek Gupta, Akshay and others.
